My son is a third generation Marine. He is a weekend warrior attached to an artillery unit in Fort Worth while he goes to college in UTA. He did get activated and attached to line infantry unit and sent for a tour in Iraq as the heavy machine gunner in a turret on top of a fuel truck. Luckily most of the fighting there had died down by the time they arrived so they only got the occasional pot shot and IED. They did have him packed up and ready to go into Sadr City when they decided to let the IA do it instead. Of course I knew none of these until he got back, all I heard was stories about how much his barracks sucked and how much he hated his NCO.

You do know I am just ribbing you right? My other son flirts with the idea of being a ranger ever few months and one his best friends who I drove to the recruiters office is Fort Benning right now going through basic to be an 11B.
