... precisely because we didn't think carefully through. In the 1980's we recklessly discarded Afghanistan when the soviets left, and the country was plunged into 3 decades of the most savage civil war in modern history. That came back to bite us in the end.


No, what has come back to bite us is that we did not secure the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan because of lack of troops in the area. We need to send in more. Quickly.
