I think the main reason he was nominated for this, and eventually won it, wasn't what he had done/has done as president, but the simple fact that he managed to pull off what many didn't think could happen yet in America.
Everyone keeps thinking the prize stems from what he has done as the president, without thinking it might have something to do with what he did BEFORE being inaugurated.
