Just that your choice of descriptors doesn't really fit the situation

People in the modern west obsessing over virginity might be considered either weird, silly, or old-fashioned, depending on the context. It definetly is not silly over there or back then. They tend to view someone hitting the wedding bed as not a virgin ion the same way most modern western guys would view finding out on the honeymoon that their wife had been starring in pornos and working at a brothel.
As for whether or not it's silly, I'm not going to defend a process or norm that I personally consider excessive, obsessive, and horribly antiquated, but I'd ask you to consider the cultures that spawn this sort of thinking. It's morality aside, it is most definetly not silly, anymore than eating kosher is, or vegan, or having lavish weddings when a quick trip to the courthouse would serve as well. You lose who volumes of understanding by writing off any practice as silly. People don't kill each other in droves for silly reasons, and you can't do much to formulate a solution if you assume the people involved are just being silly. I don't mean to lecture, I'm sure you are aware of this necessity, you just don't seem to be applying it to this specific case.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
