You don't have nice old clothes you wouldn't dream of throwing away? A jacket perhaps? A really great comfortable yet sturdy pair of shoes? A hat? Have any furniture? Heirloom knicknacks for chrissakes?

No to the shoes. No to the jacket. No to the hat/furniture. No to the heirloom. My parents came to this country in 1984 with almost nothing but themselves. What was left in the USSR was already without history as much was lost in the Revolution and ensuing chaos. I have no attachments to anything except perhaps for my journal. Besides, clothing is just clothing. And I can always buy more.
