Anyone who bans Shakespeare should be imprisoned for idiocy. *NM* Joker Send a noteboard - 30/10/2009 07:09:17 PM
And how they won't allow their middle school kids to do the edited Hamlet? Well, my second submission also got rejected. What was it? Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.I edited the whole thing like I did with Hamlet to take out anything that MIGHT be considered offensive in any way. The reason the charter school board gave me was that the graveyard scene depicted death. GAAAAAHHHHH! Charter school garbage. I submitted an edited version of The Hysterical History of the Trojan War. I edited it so that every person who dies (Hector, Achilles, etc) does a Monty Python-ish "I think I'm going to make it" deal. It's funny but why should I have to edit literature for middle school kids? They can't even mention death? That severely limits the book selection for them and excludes most of the greatest works in history. It's ridiculous. It makes me sad for the kids.
