Alright, so I have this Nonverbal Communication course I'm mired in right now and I am writing a paper dealing with eye behaviours . My topic is nonverbal communication through the eyes of fighters. In studying eye behaviors and the functions of such, I started realizing that I do a lot of eye analysis without thinking about it. So here are a few questions regarding your perceptions of a persons' eye behaviors in communication.

i think we all do a lot of eye movement analysis without thinking about it, it's usually part of nonverbal communication whether we notice it or not...

1) Can you tell when someone is lying to you by their eyes?

usually i hear it, but generally i find that people look away or glance away for a tiny fraction of a second...

2) Do you automatically distrust a person who doesn't look you in the eye?

no... it's polite in dog to avert the gaze, so i'm used to not looking directly at people so that i don't freak them out. i do have to make a lot of eye contact with clients, so i work on trying to do that more with people, but it's weird sometimes.

3) Do you automatically trust someone who does?

no

4) Does your impression of a person change depending on the amount of eye contact, blinking, face-gaze, etc?

it can, but doesn't always.

5) Are the eyes the window to the soul?

heh. body posture and vocal inflection can be easily so much more telling.

6) Are my eyes as mesmerizing to you as they are to everyone else I meet?

they are definitely my first impression of a person, i think the eyes hold a lot of character, although it's now easier for me to interpret from other signals.

7) What would you do if I headbutted your mom and/or your dog just because she opened a window and/or chewed my slippers?

i don't understand why you'd want to use violence to solve a problem of someone else being an idiot.

"it's like the real world, except there's dragons!"

cw, you are missed...
