Well, the transition group asked if he'd at least consider it...

the redirect to what would become RAFO because a majority of the community indicated that it would go to a new site. Mike said that he would think about it and get back to us... also that he was open to the idea. Then, despite many attempts, Mike pretty much just blew us off... and the rest of the site too despite many promises to do things for the community. At least Mike let Ben in to save and preserve what he could.
Mike made a decision to close wotmania and didn't ask anyone about what they wanted to do. He simply decided that everyone was going to Dragonmount, as his first announcement stated. Despite the majority of the community openly committing to move over the new site Ben was creating, and several email exchanges with Mike over how to best handle the situation, and several promises from Mike to do this and that, Mike just didn't get around to doing any of it. So wotmania closed and Mike followed his original plan.
Hey, don't get me wrong. It was Mike's site, and he could do with it what he wanted. I'm glad he felt that he could move on with his life. He deserves that. It just would have been nice if he would have followed through with a few of his promises, or communicated with some of us just a little better, before the end.

Does anyone know why wotmania redirects to that Dragonmount and not here? *NM*

Because wotmania wanted to direct newcomers to a WoT dedicated site, I'd imagine.

I'd guess Mike had agreed it early on and felt he had to go through with it

Another reason may be that his friendship with Jason goes much further back than with most of us.

Nonsense. Insulting people endlessly is the best way to get them to do things!

We are just disapointed for the lack of acknowledgement of Bens hard work...
