However it was a consistent schedule, 2pm to around 11 or midnight depending on the workload. I liked it because I function best in the evenings and night anyway. The only thing I didn't like was that most everyone else functions during the day so I felt disconnected from a lot of people.

I agree that the shifting schedule would be tough. I personally probably could not do it. My internal clock likes consistency and HATES being screwed with. I guess it boils down to how badly you need/want the job.
