Er, I really didn't choose, it was a third-hand car and the only one available. Initially I absolutely hated it and was convinced I would never learn to drive, because I had a heart attack every time I killed the car (which was a lot, at first). Now I think it's great fun... well, except for the problems I have with my wrists after driving a manual for long periods of time.

But even so, it's just very fun and a more interactive experience than driving an automatic. And now, after about six months of having a license (and not getting in any scrapes!), I am no longer a timid driver. Instead, driving makes me feel all empowered, and I love to go fast (er... within reasonable limits).

^ Actually something I'd prefer to see answered, by you or anyone else, since this is my first winter as a driver. Because of my job, I had to do a great deal of driving even during the middle of the snowstorms, and it scared me half to death. My car doesn't have great tires and was wobbling all over the road even when everyone else was fine!
