are they spanking their child with anger and rage in their hearts, or are they spanking their child with the goal of teaching them the difference between right & wrong behavior. Yes, there may still be a measure of irritation, but to discipline a child while one is emotionally angry or enraged...not good.

And this may just be me, but I think that any type of spanking not on the bum (this site is english, so I thought that it would be the correct word) isn't quite right...with the exception of the top of the hand. The face/head or back....that doesn't really sit well with me.

Oh, and yeah...when the kid is a bit older, spanking isn't nearly as effective. My parents were wise enough to know that sending me to my room was no punishment at all...instead they made me sit down at the dining room table....and just sit there.
