it's not as much that they're making cuts...it's more the fact they're leaving these districts with almost nothing and forcing them via testing requirements to cut things that are deeply needed like fine arts, recess and interactive teaching.

I know that cuts must be made and a balance is tenuous...but right now there is a complete lack of anything resembling a balance. On one end of the financial see-saw, you have a mouse-sided education budget and an elephant-sized budget for just about any other big budget expenditure. We can't afford to let criminals run the streets...but we can't afford our populous to get increasingly more ignorant in the long run either.

You are right and I don't disagree with you in theory...it's just your theory is simply not what I see occurring. But then again, my mother teaches in Arizona, where I also went to school, and we're 49th out of 50 in the nation. It may not be so unbalanced in other states.
