I'm not quite as familiar with college (inferior) football, but the principle is the same. There are 22 other starters. A team that makes it all about one guy doesn't deserve to be there if they can't win without him or in spite of him. And quarterback is not nearly as important as you make it out. His entire side of the ball is the less important side, and it is only about the 6th most important position on the offense.
