What did Notre Dame's football program do wrong?
I'm just curious why you say it shouldn't have a football proram.

but there was a booster who embezzled money from her employer, used it to pay players and even had a child with one of them. notre dame got a very minimal penalty and no loss of postseason play, and no loss of tv time. any other school would have gotten no postseason, no tv and probably lost a big chunk of scholarships.
i am also slightly bitter about the whole situation because i went to Texas A&M. and right before our big bowl matchup with them, it came out that several of our players had received favors from a booster which resulted in our getting reduction of scholarships, no bowl (for the next year), no tv (for the next year) and all affected players were suspended before the game against ND, including the #1 running back who was the majority of our offense. ND has the same situation a few years later and gets virtually no penalty at all. so yeah, fair doesn't even begin to describe the way the NCAA handles things....

Why don't they just have a damned playoff in college football, already? (Semi coherent Rant)

because the original concept of the bowl games was to produce many big matchups at once
