1: "AAE is bad English and people shouldn't speak it". This is what I assumed MightyYT meant, due to his abrupt wording. If I've misunderstood him, I hope he'll correct me. However, if this is what he meant, I stand by my comments: it is racism, pure and simple, even though most of the people who say it wouldn't consider themselves racists.
if he feels that way only about AAE, and not about more "white" sociolects with low prestige. And even if he does, it would be a prejudice against a cultural community more than against an actual race - not all black Americans speak AAE, and black foreigners obviously don't at all. Of course, if we're gonna go down that route, you could probably dismiss 80% or more of "racist" views or statements as not being strictly based on race, leaving only actual white supremacists as genuine racists.
So what EXACTLY is the problem with Reid's comments?

it wasn't just that he commented on the lack of "dialect"

Regardless of that, I don't see the ability to use dialect as a racist statement.

Your AAE is a language the way that Pig Latin is a language.
