Settlers is about as simple as games that you can play more than one time get. It's not Magic, it's not Axis & Allies, it's not Avalon Hill's Third Reich or Empires in Arms.


I love Settlers of Catan, usually play it with the Cities expansion, but when someone asks specifically for "party" games that are "light" and "easy to play", Settlers is not the kind of game that comes to mind.

Not that I *have* played games that are much more complex than Settlers, that I recall, but I'm sure they would be fun. And I'm sure I'd like to hear recommendations - if I was asking for recommendations of strategic and more complicated games.


Edit: If you see which games the original poster ended up getting, I'm sure you'll see what I mean about which games are "light" and "easy to play" and which aren't.
