and by praying I mean in audibly whispering a prayer that most muslims say anytime they travel. I am paranoid that people will think im whispering something to someone or what not. And this is only after a friend of mine and her entire muslim family were kicked off a plane for wondering aloud to her husband, what part of the plane is supposed to be safest in case of an emergency. (that story made national headlines)
Sorry, but you couldn't say your prayers at home before leaving or in silence in your head on the plane? I have nothing against praying or religion but you might want to consider that praying (I assume in Arabic?)even in a whisper could be seen as very suspicious on a plane.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...

Sorry, I don't consider praying on a plane acting foolishly or inappropriately.

His being Jewish has nothing to do with it. Use some common sense - pray silently.

or they could have looked and said "no problem just a wooden box used for prayer" and not diverted

Fair enough, I can agree that they could have done that and should have done that.

Allah is bigger than your "prayer time". The world won't end if you pray earlier or later.

Islam does explicitly make allowances for people who are traveling, though.
