Well, apart from the obvious one... I tend not to want to move around a lot with a desktop.
But really. I can't work on a laptop, keyboard is tiny, upgrades are easier, etc. And if one has the space to have a desk, a real computer is handy to have.
Now, I can understand those small things - netbooks, right? for cases when moving around is essential, but an ordinary laptop seems to me only to be useful for people living in very small apartments...
