They are not beneath me because of me being a better person or even smarter... ironclad Send a noteboard - 26/01/2010 08:33:18 PM
You're very demeaning to people who have jobs you consider beneath you by the very fact that you think the job is beneath you. You say you appreciate them and are glad they do the job, but so what? If you consider yourself too good for a job that some people are glad to have, then you consider yourself better than them.

...although, of course I could say "had they worked harder at school they wouldn't ride on the dumpster today".
These jobs are not what I would work as (and I never even used the word "beneath" ), because I studied harder and have much more to offer than would be needed as a garbage man, to stick to that example.

I dunno, from some of the replies here it seems it is much more likely to happen in the US, where even an educated person like Belals Girl would consider just about any job, from the sound of it. When I didn't find one right away after University, did my counselor offer me waiting tables (to pick an example I would gladly do in dire times)? No, she looked what I am good at, what I had to offer and we were looking in that direction.
Of course it can be super hard to find something good and fulfilling. That doesn't mean I have to start handing out newspapers the next day, which leads back to Tom's second paragraph I agreed with.
I am not defending the guy refusing good jobs for over a year. I am just saying not EVERY job is for EVERYone just because it is offered to them.
*MySmiley*

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
