1. Do you like musicals? Why (not)?


Yes. A lot :D Because they make me happy (even the sad ones). They connect with me in a way that non-musical shows just don't. I love the way the music and lyrics can interact with and complement the story. And singing certain key lines is so much more expressive than merely speaking them.

2. Do you like opera? Why (not)?


I have only ever seen La Boheme, which I enjoyed, but I do like listening to music from them. It's pretty.

3. What's your favorite musical?


I really don't know if I can pick just one :D I guess whichever one I've just seen?

No? Okay fine. Erm. This is hard. I think my favorite ever is Into the Woods. <3 Sondheim.

4. What elevates it above the rest?


His lyrics are so clever, the songs are highly sing-able but without seeming trite, the interconnection of the stories is well done, and the sort of "behind the scenes" aspect of familiar stories is intriguing.

5. What's your favorite opera?


I don't know enough about it to have one.

6. What elevates it above the rest?

BONUS POINTS: Do you or have you ever teared up while watching Les Misérables? If not, how does it feel to lack a soul?


Of course! I cry when I just listen to the soundtrack. Javert's suicide gets me every time. And Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.

I think the musical that has made me cry the most though is Miss Saigon. I was completely sobbing at the end of that one.
