saying "by the standards of the British Isles". Admittedly, the cheap pound at the moment makes things somewhat less bad than they usually are, but still I don't think you can really call Edinburgh cheap by either continental European or American standards.


I definitely am aware of this, Legolas, as I keep up to date on current cost of living standards and comparisons between the states and other countries (a weird interest of mine, I guess). I take "affordability" with a grain of salt...a very large grain of salt. Columbus, OH is a fairly cheap place to live, so I am thinking a bit more expensive than New York City for my vacation in the UK.
