Well hindsight is 20/20, but was the ambulance ride truly necessary? callandor1000 Send a noteboard - 09/02/2010 03:34:39 PM
Just to keep in mind in future situations, but I mean... at worst, run to the store and get a pair of crutches to help her get to the doctors (as in in and out of house and car and everything, not making her crutch to the doctors). I mean unless bone breaks out of the skin or she has other injuries because of the fall then it makes far more sense to just drive there. For the future. They get you a nice pretty penny for that... my brothers bill one time when he passed out was like $1100 for the ambulance ride.

I tore all the stuff in my ankle(s) (did one at a time) with no insurance and it set me back like $4000, but that was without surgery and includes the physical therapy. Plus, she'll be out of work for god knows how long, I'm sure.

What helped me with the ER visit was my age and being single, I was able to get some sort of supplemental health insurance and that picked up most of the ER bills, but wouldn't help with anything else, including followup. The billing departments at there places are great, usually. They realize that they have to do everything they can to help you find the money or else they don't get paid.

Your mom. That's right. The cat is out of the bag. Your mom.
