And I see. Still, Leiden is almost as awesome as its Flemish counterpart Leuven (can you tell that's where I live and study? ), and it has canals which is always fun.

In any case, the Randstad is so small that from any of the big three cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague), the other two and the smaller cities of the region like Delft, Haarlem and Leiden are less than an hour away. And all six of those are more than worth a visit, I dare say (Delft is the only one I haven't been myself). But then, I don't know how long and how touristy you want to make this trip.
