I can't speak for myself I think it depends what you're doing. For example, if you don't go to college and go become a mechanic (as perfectly fine and dandy as that is), you're probably not going to hear it after high school. In my case, I'm still in school. I'm still actively working towards my "final goal" (education wise, anyways). My "Potential" was always to be a veterinarian...and there's no way for me to have fulfilled that yet, so people still say "oh you have so much potential! You're so lucky to be studying to be a vet!!" I imagine that about a year after graduation I'll stop hearing it I'm not trying to say people aren't GOING to hear how wonderful they are after their education is finished, or that they'll stop hearing it because they didn't go to school...I just think that once you're done with school/childhood the time for "building" is considered over and you better be "accomplishing".

That's just my opinion on it, anyways. I think people still need to hear "you're wonderful and have the potential to do so much!!" long past this point, but society as a whole will stop saying it once it feels you should be achieving, rather than still trying.
