I mean...c'mon, they gave the election to Bush with that nomination. I'm pretty open minded politically, but that dude made my skin crawl even more than Bush.
but of course, "anybody but bush" could mean anyone at all. the biggest problems with kerry were that (1) he let the republicans define him instead of doing it himself, and (2) he voted for 90% of bush's policies giving him no credibility against bush in the general election. it's tough to say something like "this is a bad policy" when in the next breath you're justifying why you voted in favor of it
