"trickle down" economics doesn't work. the fact is that some of the biggest corporations in america barely foot their own tax bill, and in fact as we saw last year, some of them get taxpayer bailouts when they are deemed "too big to fail". would the federal government give any single person a bailout? this is what the guy was railing against in principle. there's no doubt that there are a lot of good things *some* companies do, but don't dismiss the fact that there are corporations out there who actually got big enough tax breaks that they paid zero in taxes, and some have done so for several years in a row.


There was a point in the past when companies could make vast profits and pay zero taxes (Pepsi), however that is no longer the case. The alternative minimum tax now significantly curtails the ability of a corporation to dodge taxes. I wont say that tax dodging is extinct for corporations, but they will have to pay at least something.

Taxpayers have a bail out. Its called bankruptcy. You can go through the process and walk away from hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt without paying a dime. You can do it once every 4-7 years. That is a bail out, people just don't like to think of it as such.
