RI is not a right to work state so it is hard to say random thoughts Send a noteboard - 25/02/2010 04:40:46 AM
What I read in the article said they could hire back 50% of the teachers who were fired. I would assume that if they want to unionize again they will have to negotiate a completely new contract. If they I hope they don't negotiate in some silly rule about rehiring being based on seniority and they do it based on merit.

The firings don't place until next year so I won't be surprised if some kind of agreement is not reached before then.

I do admit to being fairly anti-union. I worked in one union shop in my life and it was relatively weak union and I still hated it. the union had to be involved in every decision that was made and their primary goal seemed to be making sure that a bunch of lazy slobs with no skills but loads of seniority got first choice at everything from holidays where their desk sat. Unions have the place but primarily that place is in history books.
