Although if New Zealand chose not to merge, it might have to learn to just cope with getting economic short end of the stick.

But from what I saw of Australia when I was over there, I don't see why it can't be culturally possible. I was very much reminded of Scotland/England whenever they'd talk about Kiwi's :P Except with more of a fond "aww they're such cute little buggahs!" :P
