Yes, it is shocking, I know. When in Rome one should probably embrace one's being-in-Romeness, but much as I hate flying I almost wish the planes would start running. As that does not look like it will happen any time soon, our best bet looks like it will be getting across Europe some other way. Now, long distance trains are full, so it looks like our best bet is to take lots and lots of shorter trains.
So. If any of you know of anywhere where we could stay for free along the way, that would be excellent. Or, you know, if you have a rich grand-uncle with his own train, that would be great, too. Or a zeppeliner.

Couch surfing was mentioned above - that's probably your best shot at overnighting for free.
Is a car rental out of the question? It sounds like you have multiple people in your group so the cost difference/time savings might make sense.

Tim said you were stuck in Rome. I wasn't sure if you were there or Norway. Alas.

Nope. Not in Europe anyway. I suspect Lesotho might be too far to go to get it.

Not so fast. The dirty French have told him he's not allowed to rescue people.

If you can get to Amsterdam, there are ferries to Newcastle.

It's nothing to do with the card you pay with. Travel insurance is a freebie with the Advance A/c.
