Even with standard non-technical merchandise, you have to "authenticate" your purchase at checkout, whether that be in person or online. You always have to do something before you can start using an item. With the exception of an extra 30-60 seconds, single authentication of software costs you no extra / long term inconvenience.
Starcraft II won't have crazy DRM.
