FAR from it. Most of Mystra's Chosen could have wiped the floor with your PC, and many other god's chosen and extraordinary individuals would have given your PC a run for their money as well.

Most of the items in non-boss/plot chests are randomly generated. Still, particularly with the blacksmith who can make magic gear, you should be more than able to gear yourself appropriately. Or just make gear in the toolset and import a character with the gear into the campaign :P Whatever floats your boat.
