And controls. Zelda's biggest problem was difficulty. Nintendo's insistence on making every game "accessible" to everyone made it way too easy. Every boss was a variation of 3 hits to kill.

Metroid....the controls were just plain uncomfortable and not very fun to use. A joystick or mouse just works so much better than the Wii controller. Perhaps done properly an FPS with Metroid's style of controls would have made me happy...but the implementation was lacking.

The other games I got, Punch Out, and a couple others just failed to hold my interest for longer than a couple hours.

I'm a bit of a finnicky gamer as it is, so it takes a good story and proper controls to keep my attention (Assassin's Creed, Demon's Souls, Bioshock, and a couple others stand out), so the lack of a great and not gimmicky control system as well as high quality games just lost me with the Wii. I think the Wii has the potential to be an excellent gaming system, but every game I have played has failed to follow through on its promise.

The closest to succeeding was Zelda, but eventually the low level of difficulty just wore thin and lost me.

I dunno. I didn't really have that problem. I think it might have just been because the story was so enticing to me. Twilight Princess had the most emotion of any zelda game. While I still hold that The Ocarina of Time is the best game of all time, TP nearly had me tearing up at the end. If only for that, it was worth playing.
Go Hokies!
