Excellent post BlackAdder Send a noteboard - 01/11/2010 05:06:10 PM
Full disclosure I am an ATI fanboy who has an ati 4890 (had a total of 3 crossfire 4890 in the past, bought 2 and won the 3rd, eventually sold the 2nd and 3rd). That said I am recommending the nvidia geforce for they are great cards and are better bang for your buck right now. Now if you install an nvidia card instead of the ati card you may return make sure to uninstall the old ati drivers before installing the new nvidia drivers.

I especially like the breakdown of FPS/$, as that's basically the useful bit that all the hardware stats boil down to. The GTS450 looks like a better value in the <$100 range... I also saw a few GTX465 <$200. That card is supposed to be OCable to close to the 470's speed (even though it's 256 bit vs. 320).

I'm still in the process of building my system (on paper) and juggling around the parts trying to figure out where to spend more and where it's not necessary. This post was really helpful.
