I haven't played WoW in two years and I have a question

Have they upped the drop rates for green+ items and the spawn rate of elite mobs?
Cause I've found a ton of uncommon drops including a pair of recipes I found in Northern Barrens that somehow sell on the auction house for 10+ gold even though I was getting them at a rate of 1 per hour. And I've not hit Ashenvale yet and I've already encountered a good 6-8 elites, I think I'd only met one by that level last time I played.
Seriously, I've already got like 50 gold at level 21. That can't be right.
