If you've read Yahtzee's review over at Zero Punctuation, he sums it up pretty well. It's FUN, but it feels... unfocused.
Like, there's a cool criminal/lawbreaking system, very similar to GTA4's. But you can teleport in your horse anywhere, and money stops being an issue about 45 minutes into the game, so what reason would you have to break the law?
The same applies to the other things. Poker, treasure hunts, horseshoes... it's all fun (well, maybe not horseshoes), but there isn't really any incentive to wander around looking for buried bars of gold.
I still had fun playing it, though.

I can see being disappointed by it, though I still enjoyed it a lot. Mass Effect 2 ruined it, for me
