Some people are not aware on how small you can make an awesome gaming desktop.

Pretty much the best video card you can get in a $999 laptop is a nvidia gt550mobile or a radeon hd 6770mobile. (These cards are roughly the same performance but the amd card is 20% or so faster) In notebooks they use different names than they use in desktops, a laptop gt550m (the m behind the number stands for mobile) is the same thing as a desktop gt440 (actually the desktop card is running the gpu 10% faster.) The 6770m in a laptop is the same thing as a desktop 6670 (the desktop card is actually running 10% faster.)

You can find the geforce gt440 desktop card for $80 to $100 and the desktop 6670 for about $100.
