I'm considering finally caving and leaving the comfort of my compfy bed or bag chair and actually having a desktop again. I'm trying to decide whether to build a PC or just buy one with the specs I want.
The thing is, I've looked at the cost of the parts on Newegg, and those parts combined with the cost of Windows and Office (Yes, I know there is OpenOffice, and there are other OS systems), it adds up to about what I'd be paying for a computer with similar power ANYWAYS. Even with OpenSource software, it's still not that big a price difference when I compare a "desktop I would buy" to a "desktop I would build".
Is it worth it to build it if I'm going to have near the same computer for the same price anyways?

Just get a pre-made and add a few components (ie: graphics card) to make you feel like you built it. *NM*

If you like tinkering, then build one. Quality control is all on you, but it's "yours" then.
