Dell is one of the biggest computer retailers out there. I think they're number 2 or 3 these days, but they were number 1 for quite a while, and a lot of people just associate them with the computer hawking business. I'm sure you noticed that someone else had already mentioned Dell before I started commenting.
It really doesn't matter which company I choose, though. HP, Acer, you name it, they all have roughly the same quality, prices and policies. It's not like anything I said applies ONLY (or even mostly) to Dell.
