For two reasons.
1. Those controllers are going to be pricey. No way around it. This way there will be no games even trying to convince me to buy three more of them.
2. This will be the first time that is it standard for multiplayer games to have asymmetrical input and information. This means that we're going to see a lot of really interesting multiplayer experiences and experimentation.
We're already seeing it: Killer Freaks from Outer Space has a multiplayer mode where up to 4 players control their characters like an FPS on the primary screen, and 1 player controls the movement, placement, and strategy of the monsters from the Wii U controller, RTS style.

Classic controller doesn't have the appropriate number of triggers (the shoulder buttons are not analog, are they?), and the nunchuck/wiimote combo doesn't have enough analog sticks.

It's possible. I'm not saying this is a guarantee, but we've seen how the DS & Wii have printed $$$. *NM*

Please. It picked up at the end of its lifespan, but it doesn't come close to XBox or PS2

Gamecube was the top of my leaderboard in quantity and quality of titles owned, too. Until the 360.

Same here. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it has the best library of any console I've ever had.

I came across a "fact sheet" earlier today listing most of what's known about the Wii U.

It's all about the games, and we haven't seen those yet. But I have some concerns.

Only one Wii U controller per system. That's a big downer, IMO, even if they'd be pricey for 2+

I think it uses Wii remotes with pointer controls. Not sure though.
