I've also heard they've been experiencing double digit sales drops lately, so the price cut could well be motivated by more standard reasons. If you ask me, everyone who wants a wii more or less has one by this point, but I'm sure they'll get a few holdouts nonetheless.
They stacked all their AAA releases at the start of the consoles life and have nothing in the pipeline. The tactic worked, they sold millions and made a fortune.
