I was passing through Helgen on the way to somewhere or other, and wanted to check out the ruins of the town. I went in there with Lydia, and she got stuck between some buildings, and I ended up abandoning her there. I made my way to the location I needed to go to, and went into the cave there, thinking she would spawn beside me... She didn't. I ended up clearing the cave without her, then had to go back for Lydia and spend about half an hour trying to knock her out of where she got stuck. I finally managed to, but it was annoying and aggravating.
I'm so sad that spell damage doesn't scale in Skyrim

Fireball splash damage doesn't hurt you. Walk up to a wall and blast it; no damage.
