The primary criticism of extreme linearity is absolutely valid, but if you can handle that, the game has amazing visuals and a great story. It's the first game I've ever played that my wife (girlfriend at the time) wouldn't let me play when she wasn't around. She was as interested in that game as she was in a good tv series or movie. And she was right to be; there were some great characters, the story was interesting and moving at times, and the pacing was extremely well done.

If you're looking for the typical RPG experience of stats, strategy, development and exploration, you definitely need to look elsewhere. However, if you just want to have fun participating in a beautiful and engrossing movie, definitely give XIII a try.
