I think the game's only real issue was that nothing within the game (or practically anything else in the world) could rival how amazing the opening AMV with Time's Scar was. Since that was the first thing any of us saw, we were bound to feel disappointment.
That said, looking back on it now, the game was still superior in virtually every way (except graphics) to recent RPGs. Yeah, I'm one of those cynics.
