Beyond that, I couldn't tell.
But changing those three things is 100% necessary to make it an acceptable product by today's standards. It is utterly unplayable these days, because of how awful the UI and controls are.
Or at least that's what I've found.
It didn't bug me with BG II when I played it only a year or two ago. But when I then moved on to Neverwinter Nights, and only then got to BG I, which I found almost unplayable, as you mention, due to pathfinding and controls. Not sure if it's such a big difference between the two games, or just me having gotten used to NWN inbetween.
