There's all sorts of ways to get around that. Most of them magic, true, but that's no big deal. It can be shrunk, it can be levitated, it can be teleported, it can be carved into smaller chunks that are carried off, it can be cracked like an egg to access it's core. There are tons of possibilities.

yes. basic shrinkage and teleportation spells always work on artifacts
