two things you should do as soon as possible. Get a soul trap spell and find Azura's Shrine and complete Azura's Quest (I think you have to bring her Nightshade). This will give you Azura's Star which is a reusable Soul Gem. NEVER get rid of it. You use filled Soul Gems to restore uses to magic weapons. It is probably the most useful thing in the game.
All of the Daedric Shrine Quests (like Azura's) are level based. You can't activate the Shrine until you reach a certain level. Azura's has the lowest requirement. The shrine is located in the mountains north-northeast of Cheydinhal.
