but I'm strangely good at driving games (considering how bad I am with most console games

1. I would say the wheel sucks so much for the reason lord-of-shadow gave.
2. As los said. also you don't HAVE to use the wheel...Really the "wheel" is just a novelty holder for the controller. But like los said, it's not mounted so it is no where near as easy to use as an actual driver's wheel
3. I'd just say focus on keeping the wheel in the vertical position. tilting it will throw off the sensors.

I don't bother with the wheel, just hold the wiimote horizontally.
