Oh Man Heavy Rain is SO GOOD beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 08/03/2010 07:29:28 AM
Very tense, though. And the whole no-save-backups thing annoys me when I accidentally screw up a critical event- I've rushed to restart the game once or twice so I could beat the autosave (which happens after the conclusion of every major cutscene, as far as I can tell)

This really is the next step in the "adventure" genre. No more of the fiddly point-and-click, hunt the pixel game. Psychological thrillers are where it's at, with an incredibly cinematic feel, and everything being extremely fluid.

I love that you often can't just exhaust all dialogue options- you have to pick what you think is relevant and useful, or else you're likely to run out of time, or the conversation will otherwise be interrupted.

I really really really want the VR-glasses-and-glove gimmick the FBI officer has. His home office is sweeeeeeeeet (I picked the sky-high mountaintop, myself)

I have seen at least three butts so far- a man, a woman, and a baby.

If you're unsure, I'd download the demo- it provides a good feel of what the game mechanics and mood is like, but I will say that the demo is in fact weaker than the actual game. It gets much better once you know the characters, once you've taught your son how to throw a boomerang, once you find out how the Origami Killer kills his victims...

(Also: Game comes with a cool origami swan thing you make yourself- the game gives you instructions during the install sequence so you don't get bored waiting)
I amuse myself.
