That game is really, really good. Deep combat system, great characters, and surprisingly hilarious at times.

Plus, it has a cool setting- WW1-era Europe, with some magical realism thrown in.

It's technically a sequel, but I never played the first one, and never felt the lack. The two plots aren't very related, and they explain the backstory needed.

Combat is turn based, but you can link up with teammates to do combos. Physical attacking is also more useful than in many other games- and instead of just pressing "Attack," there's actually a little wheel that you time your hits on to get bonus damage (or, with certain items, special effects, extra hits, and the like).

One of the characters is a loveable old geezer who has a little-girl puppet that he dresses in fabulous dresses to get magic spells. The puppet then attacks the enemies. You get more dresses by finding gay-porn collectible trading cards, and trading them to a gay tailor couple.

That's just a minor, minor thing, but I like to use it because it's a good example of the awesome weirdness of the game. Also the vampire-wrestler-superhero that clobbers enemies with things you find throughout the game (like a mailbox... or a fish)

Really. It's so good.

Oh! And I'd say throw in Chrono Cross, if you liked Trigger. It's a bit odd, but the music is absolutely gorgeous.
I amuse myself.

I actually disagree with you on that one, despite my PC-centric nature. - 12/03/2010 06:03:06 PM 641 Views
PCs are better for RPGs for a vastly different reason. - 15/03/2010 03:53:21 AM 643 Views
