I think claiming that the interactive movie which this game is, is good would largely be a matter of personal preference. I like some anime, but I don't like all of them, thus it is possible that you may not like the "typical, popular" type of anime this game depicts. It is closer to a sentai or a Saturday/Sunday morning anime instead of more serious anime, which, as I note, isn't either bad or good, but it is something you need to take into account.

The real question is: What if the interactive movie you are supposed to play isn't a movie that you like? Most JRPGs can get past this by introducing minigames, deep combat systems and other gimmicks while most WRPGs get past this by engaging the player in the nature of dynamic choice and a large, gaming world that can be explored at your free will. With Final Fantasy XIII, however, if you don't like the story or find it trite, you are stuck for 20-30 hours playing it.

So, I think it is only fair to note that it is a mixed bag in terms of presentation, because it really isn't for everyone.
